Originally sculpted in 1867 for the facade of the National Park Bank in New York City, the Justice statue was relocated to the National Park Seminary following renovations of the bank in 1904. Two other statues, Industry and Commerce, were also moved from the bank façade and are located nearby. The Justice Court, the clearing around the statue, has often been overrun with weeds since the school’s closure. Justice, along with other statues and buildings at the Seminary, has been vandalized a number of times; the bright white areas on the statue indicate where deep cleaning was required to remove graffiti in 2020. The sword blade and scales once held by Justice were lost decades ago.
